Sullen and snappy, Flame doesn't tell many about where he came from. Despite joining the pack he still feels the urge to wander, making him the perfect scout. He's only friendly to Dandelion, who he's training to be a scout like her mother Buttercup did for him. He can't help but wonder where Buttercup is, and if they'll ever be able to find her out there...
He isn't around much, but he did have a quick fling with Palefire; they were bored and got along well enough. When he returned from his next scouting mission, she was pregnant. And over the next few moons their pups were born, lived, and then all but one died. Flame feels that there's no need for him to stick around any more now that their sole surviving pup is weaned, and Palefire agrees, so he wanders the world for Hemlock once more. He doesn't care much for pups and the heartache the litter caused, and Embers is rather irritating. Flame sees his son's desperation to be like him and clinging to Dandelion as childish and annoying, and is short with him, though the pup is too naive to realise his father doesn't like him.
No-one is sure how exactly he died, but it happened around the time Hemlock travelled to search for Slate, and she said he had died on the journey. His remains have never been found, and many whisper they're still up in the coldest peaks, where reality and nightmare bleed into each other and terrible things lurk...
