Born in a field of hemlock, her parents named her for the poisonous plant, believing it would make her strong. Within a few moons, she was the last of her litter and her parents thought they were proven right. In many ways, her parents and surviving siblings were a good pack, but Hemlock felt suffocated by attention and frustrated as they fell further into odd superstitions and beliefs.
When she had just learned to fend for herself, her pack and family started to fall apart. They started arguing and accusing each other of various horrible acts as the stress of dwindling prey and rival packs began to lay heavy on them, culminating when her parents got into a vicious fight, both believing the other had caused the death of her littermates in some way. Hemlock realised she needed to leave for her own sanity, and she forged through strange lands for moons, looking for somewhere far away and peaceful.
One day she found a small patch of woods by a distant mountain lake, and the cave that lay within it. She dubbed it the Crystal Cavern and has created the Snow Sparks, a pack consisting mostly of wolves looking for a new life. She didn't rule with an iron paw, but she was still strict; many wolves felt constricted under her rule, not the least her daughter Slate, who eventually ran away and has never been seen again. After searching for her, Hemlock found her grand-daughter Selena, who she raised to be a lead wolf and was very strict with. She died soon after Selena became a young adult, and while remembered fondly many are more willing to question her way of leading the pack now that she is gone.
