Granite's birth-pack lived near humans. For generations, the two species lived in relative peace, but then something changed. When Granite was a pup, wild prey began becoming less common and the pack had to turn to other sources of food to survive. Sources such as the humans' livestock. The humans did not like this. One thing led to another and. . .well, Granite ended up fleeing her home with only her childhood friend, Mica.
After a long and harrowing journey, they reached a secluded area almost completely lacking human activity. Granite decided to make her home in the mountains of the region, as she had always felt drawn to high altitudes. Mica stayed with her and together they built their pack. They decided to call it the Pack of Boulders, as their wolves would outlast anything nature threw their way, just like a boulder weathers a storm.
Granite quickly established herself as a strong yet caring Alpha. She created a tight-knit pack with special attention as to how well each wolf fit in. Although Mica had been her friend since they were pups, Granite wasn't interested in him as a mate. She found another male wolf named Obsidian who she just clicked with. Obsidian got her in a way Mica never did. When Granite made Obsidian her breeding male, she assumed that Mica would understand.
In the meantime, the Pack of Boulders continued to flourish, welcoming new pups into it with pride. However, Mica became jealous of Obsidian's position. Although he hid it well, he plotted a way to get his revenge. And so the darkness within the Pack of Boulders grew. . .
