Onyx is pitch black, with some brown fur on his undersides and striking blue eyes. He exudes calm protectiveness, the gentle giant of Skyshine pack.

Onyx was once a member of Riverflood Pack, and the love of Ash's life. When Ash was chased away, she had to leave her newborn pup Ember behind. Onyx tried to raise her but couldn't, and entrusted her to Tala, the wolf-goddess who walks in every wolf's dreams. Many moons later, the tyrant leader of Riverflood, Torrent, banished him for showing kindness to a prisoner of Riverflood. Remembering how Ash told him she was going to start her own pack before she was exiled, he set out to join her pack and be her mate again. He also revealed that Ember was his and Ash's daughter, and therefore the firstborn and heir. He is Sky's stepfather.
