Root is the mate to the pack's lead-wolf Moss-Fish. Some see it as a surprising match-up, but others find their relationship to be endearing and strong. Where Moss-Fish is quiet and reserved, Root is easy to approach and a happy wolf to have a conversation with. They find balance within one another, and their relationship is the very foundation of this pack. He's very much seen as the second in command. Some members say he's more of a leader than Moss-Fish is, but any of that talk would get a swift bite in the ear. He takes his love and loyalty to his mate very seriously and preaches that the pack should follow in his paw steps.
Root is also the Lead Explorer of Onxycrest. With this duty, he is constantly scouting out Onxycrest's expanding territory for danger while discovering new places. He also takes any rambunctious pup who feels they're too good for the more simple pack duties out on their own expedition. The young wolf either learns that they're safer staying as a hunter, or that this is really just what they're looking for and they stay with him as an explorer.
Root would pass away from old age, but he did it doing what he loved. He knew when his time was coming, and so he took his mate and they explored the set of groves that they found each other in, and curled up under the very tree that they met eyes. By morning Moss-Fish would found that her mate would be passed and she buried him.
