Salem was given as a gift to the Grove Pack, the son of two prominent members of his former pack, and was raised here overseen by Pluto. The same age as Cora and Pluto's own pups, he was treated as if they were his parents too, reaping full benefits of association with the pack's lead wolf and her mate.
He became the pack's first breeding male, attracting several she-wolves from outside the Grove Pack as well as within.
Originally Salem was a finisher for the Greenstep hunting party, however he stepped down from his role to instead become a scout. Salem was close to the preceding scout, Heist, who was one of the oldest wolves in the pack and provided a grandfatherly figure to Salem as he grew up among the grove. He was always fascinated by his stories of journeying far beyond the grove. Wanting to honor the fallen wolf’s skill and bravery when it came to exploring, he asked Cora if he could fill in Heist’s old role, and she agreed.
