when she first meets the wolf that would become one of her mates, she is snapping and snarling and threatening to raise hell if she takes as much as a single step closer.

(she has always liked that about her — the way she has no hesitance in standing up for herself and what she thinks, and in fighting back if she feels the need to.  but right then, she thinks that this wolf looks lonely and maybe even a bit scared, and all she could feel was sympathy.

or maybe it was pity.  her mate would certainly claim that, later.

sometimes, she thinks that she might just be right.)

but there is something about her.  and it’s not just that she’s pretty — though, that is some of it, certainly.

she has never been one to socialize, but she wants to get to know this wolf.  wants to stop living by herself and a single friend to help each other along.  wants to start something new.  maybe, even, she wants to help her, in any way that she can; mentally, physically, spiritually, whichever comes first and whichever is most needed.

so she extends an invitation, and, miracle of all miracles, she accepts.
