Biography
"thunderclap"
11/1/20
A crow glided through the air, night-black feathers ruffling silently. Hiloha ran after it, her paws carrying her across the ground as fast as they could. It almost felt as if she were gliding, as well. Her yellow eyes were fixed on the bird. She was running faster than she ever had before. The breeze buffeted her dark gray fur. Her white paws were blurs as she sprinted after her target. The bird was following a fairly straight course. It seemed indifferent to the wolf pup following it so intently.
Hiloha knew that she couldn't run forever - surely? Yet, her legs didn't feel tired at all. She couldn't even remember why she was following this crow, but she did vaguely remember her father once telling her about how crows were messengers. Perhaps it was a message she sought.
A shrill caw from the crow caught the pup's attention. She pricked her ears, her eyes not leaving the ethereal creature. The crow let out another caw and alighted on the limb of a birch tree. Hiloha slowed her pace, trotting up to the tree. She craned her head upward, wondering what the crow would do next. The bird seemed to be peering down at her, but she couldn't tell. It nearly blended with the night sky now.
"The silver moon guides you," the crow uttered in a shrill voice. Hiloha let out a small bark, wishing that the crow would be more plain. But the bird said nothing more. Suddenly, it swooped down and its talons grabbed at the pup's scruff. Hiloha whimpered, watching the crow as it flew off into the night.
A kick to the muzzle woke Hiloha. Her yellow eyes flew open, blinking rapidly in the morning light. Hashili and Itilakna were tussling nearby - one of them must have kicked her. The gray pup let out a tiny growl at the other two, which they ignored in favor of their playfight. Indignant, Hiloha snorted and shuffled so that her muzzle faced the opposite way of the rough-housers. Thanks to them, she might've missed her important message from the crow. Ah well. If it was truly important, she would dream it again, surely.
