The forest speaks to her. She hears its messages from every butterfly, every falling leaf, every raindrop, every hovering sprite that no one else can see. They tell her it's going to be her time soon. Every since she gave up her immortality, she's known this would happen. It doesn't make the pain any lesser. She's not ready to leave him yet. She's not ready to leave him forever. She hasn't had him for long enough. She cries out to the forest and clings to desperate, foolish hope, but even the overseer cannot change her fate.
She is the Astoria. She is the gentle clattering of branches shifting in the wind, the quiet babbling of the creek, the crunch of fallen leaves underpaw. The goddess of life, made physical once again. She is the defender of the innocent and of the guilty. Let those who are broken come to her and find solace in her protection. Her heart is kind and soft and so, so broken. Eternal youth suits her; she takes to her role like a fish to water. But she is lonely, so, so lonely, knowing that she will outlive all those she loves and everyone she will ever meet.
