Rime [C]

Born in the first spring of The Sanctuary Pack. 

Became lead hunter in The Pack's Sixth Year

Mothers: Seven (birth), Rover (adopted)

Father: Finch (surrogate)

Personality: Headstrong and confident, Rime can be a bit stubborn, and sometimes takes things too seriously. However, she's clever, reliable, and loyal; she tends to accomplish whatever she sets her mind to.

Naming Convention: Legacy/None ((Finch gives wolves what he considers to be 'wild sounding' names. Having been raised in captivity, he doesn't grasp the nuance of naming legacy and conventions)

As thanks for Finch's surrogate services, Seven allowed him to name one of her pups. Rime was therefore named after the only dog who ever bested Finch in a fight. That dog- a bully-breed mutt somewhat pompously named "Rhyme Or Reason"- could have killed Finch this in the ring, but chose to spare his life under pain of punishment. Finch doesn't know what became of her: most dogs didn't last very long, in the ring. But she was strong. There's a chance.

Whatever her fate, Finch hopes some of Ryhme's strength will pass on to her namesake-- and equally that young Rime won't need it.

In Winter One, the Sanctuary Pack was on the edge of collapse; their best hunter was out with an injury, and their second-best had abandoned the pack, preferring to take her chances on her own. Rime, still an adolescent, went on a hunt with Dacite out of desperation. The two were separated, and Rime- somehow- managed to bring down a Whitetail Buck all on her own. Her astounding kill that winter might have saved the entire pack. For this feat, she was inducted as a full adult of Sanctuary.

In Autumn Two, when Leader Seven and her mate Rover journeyed to the Great Gathering to meet with other packs and share their stories, Rime was left in charge of pack business. She took her duties as interim leader as seriously as she took everything else in her life, and did a competent if unremarkable job.

In Autumn Three, Rime was officially declared the next leader of The Pack at Sanctuary, and gave up her duties as a hunter to dedicate herself to her new role as apprentice leader.

In Winter Three, Seven fell ill, and Rime was forced to lead the pack, finding herself out of her depth and overwhelmed with the prospect of guiding her pack through a crisis. 

In Year Four, Rime abdicated the position of leader in favour of her childhood friend, Dace, realizing that she had only been going along with what her parents wanted for her, and that she dreaded the possibility of life as a leader. She returned, happily, to living as a simple pack hunter.

In year Six, her old mentor Hat Trick retired, and Rime took her place as lead hunter; a role she feel she earned (unlike her brief stint as leader, which she feels she had only by virtue of her birth), and is proud to have.
