Biography
The pup looked around with narrowed eyes as she followed the small group of wolves who had gone to fetch her and bring her here. It had been agreed that she would travel to this pack in exchange for supplies that her own pack were in desperate need of. She had been ready for her day to leave her old pack but she was still wary of each and every new face that poked out of their dens as she passed, and she stared them down with icy cold blue eyes. She hoped that they would just let her get through this tour and then sleep for the night after her long journey.
"... and this here will be your den until you're grown enough to join a hunting team," the red and golden she-wolf who supposedly lead the pack let out a sharp, exhausted exhale and turned to face the new pup, "I don't know about you, but I'm ready for some sleep. Go on in there and meet your denmates. I've told them to let you get some sleep eventually, though, don't worry."
The pup watched the she-wolf trot off toward one of the dens across the camp, then crept slowly into the den she would be sleeping in. Immediately inside she was met with a white snout poking into her own and looking much too excited for how late it was. The dark pup's blue eyes went wide and she recoiled as the white pup grinned at her.
"Hi! I'm Erinne and we're the same age and we're going to be best friends!"
—
Deina slunk down the worn path from the spring toward her den, keeping low and trying her best to avoid any of her packmates' gazes. She rapidly closed the gap and let out a relieved sigh as she entered the den with a mind to head toward her nest.
"Deina! Let's go to the river today! I heard there're some monster fish jumping and it's warm and sunny and maybe we could do a bit of hunting together!"
The dark she-wolf was nearly startled out of her skin by the voice coming from off to the side. Erinne had obviously been lying in wait just for her to come in looking for a nap and whisk her away to who knows what kind of shenanigans. There was no point in fighting it, however, and she let her friend steer her back out into the world and off toward the river where she resolved to nap on the warm shale bank while Erinne caught her fish.

A group of wolves loped along the tops of low moor hills on their way back home from hunting. A couple of them carried hares or grouse as they went which they neatly deposited in a heap upon their arrival back at their hollow. Two of the five split off immediately to notify the next hunters of their return while the other three made for the spring to clean up. Deina lapped at the cool clear water as her friend Celbrimm fussed over her fur. The two were very similar, they had found during their time in the same hunting party, and they had become fast friends. Furthermore, today was the day Deina would become the mate of Celbrimm's brother and their party leader, Foulkes, so naturally they were now quite close.
"I'm so glad you're doing this, you two. You manage our little team together so well and it's a very smart match you're making. Now hold still while I untangle this fur! How you manage to have such beautiful fur and get it this messy is beyond me," the red tinged she-wolf carried on with an uncharacteristic excitement as she worked, making Deina smirk at Foulkes and shake her head.
The dark wolf gazed back at her, obviously trying very hard to suppress a giggle. They spent several more minutes letting the younger she-wolf fuss over them before making their way back down the path to a now crowded hollow. The new pair paused uncertainly, ducking their heads sheepishly at the number of wolves who had decided to come and watch, then slinking toward the already waiting Fenn after the still happily trotting Celbrimm. Deina was torn between embarrassment and pride as she stood in front of her leader and answered all her questions about fealty and intentions along with Foulkes.
Once the necessary to do was over with and Fenn gave her blessing a gaggle of young wolves— the two who had split off from the party in actuality had gone to fetch their other siblings in order to do just this— pounced on their older brother as he finished his part of the ceremony. This left a dismayed and disgruntled Deina to bark at them to 'get off of him, he's mine now!' Eventually she joined the fray herself, submitting to the fact that this was her life and family now.
—
Deina opened one eye as she felt a cold breeze ruffle her fur. She watched as her mate pushed his way through the screen of their den instinctively to join a hunt that had left a couple of hours ago. She smiled and shook her head, 'he'll never get used to not working, will he?' As he disappeared through the screen she got up, stretched and followed him out. The big dark wolf scanned the hollow, no doubt looking for something to do, and she approached with a smile.
"Hey, why don't we go out just the two
of us and try to catch something?"
"That sounds
nice," Foulkes smiled back at her, "it's been strange not having to go out
there every morning now. Nice, since we get to relax and enjoy the day,
but odd in terms of... routines. Anyway, shall we?"
Deina
smiled at his little nervous laugh and shook her head. She gave him a
nudge and they headed off toward one of their favorite old hunting
spots.
