Spruce is the pack's newest Herbalist, and is dedicated to the practice. They used to be in the Lichen hunting party before taking on Dove's old role. They were close with the previous Herbalist and found her to be an inspiring teacher. They feel nervous about filling the void that Dove left with her passing, but their knowledge and spirituality will serve them well as they practice the skills Dove taught. They are mates with Shell and are trying for pups. Spruce is close friends with Reed, Fennel and Holly, and had a respectful but tense relationship with Bear, the previous Deputy Hunter.
They are now helping guide Moss through the Lunar Plain, though advise her to practice caution since Spruce has not been able to see the Plain, and thus cannot fully understand its nature. They hope that someday the Plain will make itself known to them, as they yearn to expand their spiritual knowledge.
As the pack's Herbalist, they aid in the Changing of the Leaves ceremonies by picking up extra leaves and non poisonous plants as they are foraging. They also have the duty of crowning Rowan, the next lead, when the time comes.
