Dante took over Pride Peak shortly after Athena passed away, becoming the new alpha along with his true love Melanie. Despite being a good leader, he introduced a rule which sent many packing. With the very small exception of a few, the majority of wolves without a mutation had to leave in search of a new pack and only albino and melanistic wolves were allowed to join and stay.
For any non mutated wolves that have gained permission to stay, they are not able to be in the running line for an alpha or beta position. This even applied to wolves who carried the genes to produce mutants. Despite the many females he had attracted and reproduced with, he has promised to remain true to Melanie and she never had an issue with this due to his word.
