Matron Penumbra (Lore!)

She raised pups as she did among the Briar Stalkers - with a firm yet gentle paw. She had high expectations of every pup under her care, and would not tolerate them being less than the wolf they could be.

Matron Penumbra is the former head pup-rearer of the ill-fated Briar Stalker pack. When storm and rain drove a mountain lion into the young pack's den, he decided that their home would make a better home for himself. As the mountain lion laid waste to valiant hunters and pack leadership alike, the Matron took action.

Seeing the inevitable course of the battle, Matron Penumbra fulfilled her duty to her pack one last time. Under risk of life and limb, she guided all three of the pups in her care through the carnage. Once out in the pelting rain and wind, she drove the young pups steadily yet firmly away from the site of the massacre.

In the depths of the storm, she happened upon the Scarborough Scout, Sage, to whom she explained the Briar Stalkers' fate in no uncertain terms and urged him to grant her audience with Packleader Amaranth. Once she'd gotten the pups in her care to Scarborough, she made a case for her asylum, reverent and formal, but never pleading. Scarborough was all too happy to take in the survivor, and now she enjoys a job doing what she did for the Briar Stalkers - bringing up pups for the good of the pack.
