Sleet

Sleet was just a pup when she was offered to Marble from another pack. Marble accepted as her pack was still small and in need of members. She didn't care much for Sleet though, as she focused much more on the older pup Silverwind. Instead it was the skeptical Sage who spent time raising Sleet.

This caused Sleet to grow up harboring bitter feelings towards Marble. Upset at being ignored and believing the Moontouched to be a lie from Sage, Sleet believes Marble to be unfit to lead. She believes someone like Sage, Mist, or even herself would be a better leader! But Sleet is alone in her wish for a new leader, and is left to brew in her own bitterness.

Or so she thought. Eventually she realized she could just leave. Would Marble even care enough to stop her? Feeling neglected and tired of living under a leader she despised, Sleet left the pack. She would find a new pack, one that would value her. Young and foolish, she chose to join a pack of younger, inexperienced wolves. This pack would NEED her strength, and appreciate her. And they did, but she found that being needed was more work than she thought. This pack needed guidance, and she resolved to guide it. The work forged in her the bonds of kinship. They were her pack, in all but name, and she would lead them to prosperity.

When Errillous disappeared, the pack turned to her to lead them. She'd been leading them all along, really, but now it was more important than ever. Their honored founder was missed, but despite the pack's best efforts no trace if him was ever found. He hadn't been seen by any other packs, and the scouts never found any tracks, or signs of a fight, it was a real mystery. One that, sadly, was never solved. The founding pack was hit the hardest in the wake of his disappearance. Krioss missed the wolf that first convinced him pack life might have merit. Kagi and Fira were distraught to have outlived the young pup that they'd met just starting out, a bright eyed young lad, so full of hope. Many of the younger ones that joined as pups had thought of him as a father figure.

It was difficult for Sleet to accept that she enjoyed leading. She had always harbored the desire to lead, both in the pack of her youth and in Cragteeth. She'd taken just about any responsibilities that Errillous allowed her to, and yet now in his absence she felt... strange, filling his role. He was meant to be standing here.

Though she always felt some heaviness in her new role, Sleet knew that she was leading the pack well. As her years began to weigh on her, she looked to the pack for one to succeed her. The most likely candidates, to her, were the Head Chasers. Farvek was too old, and Chikaer too laid back, but Cindre and Ketaru were both very promising potential leads. Part of her feared the pack would dislike it if she chose her son Ketaru, but he was younger than Cindre, and yet had comparable success.

Fortunately, Ketaru's appointment seemed to sit well with the pack. Sleet could enjoy the last few seasons without worrying about defending that decision, or backing down.
