Flicker was born into a loving pack. He had a lovely father, a stellar mother, and strong influential figures surrounding him. He grew up safe and secure, he was allowed some risky adventures, but was taught never to take too many unnecessary risks during these adventures. As a pup, Flicker was taught to trust the path laid down for him, and embrace changes in his life, so he could follow this mysterious path laid down for him by some divine power. Otherwise, he would be punished by the pack's Chief, and chased through 'the Stones', a cave with endless stalactites and stalagmites. Special wolves, runners, were chosen for this job, and they learned how to run the cave from birth. Wolves who were not runners were strictly forbidden from going too close to the cave, and any wolves seen near it would be immediately chased through the Stones.
Since Flicker much preferred to stay alive, he followed his set path. One day, when he was nearly a grown wolf, he followed the path to the mountains. There he was attacked by a small brown wolf, with teeth sharp as the Stones, and fury as hot as fire.
He was told to get off the brown wolf's territory, but instead asked for her name. The wolf was Ferret, who tried to get rid of him at first, but eventually let Flicker hang around out of boredom. When the time came, Ferret let Flicker know about her plans for a pack. Her behavior seemed a little odd to Flicker, but he eventually decided to go with the flow. It was all he'd ever known, after all. They began recruiting older, experienced wolves to their pack, and Flicker watched it all. He was the breeding male, but Ferret and her hunters had all fallen in love with each
other.
