A malamute-wolf mix standing out with doglike white markings in his blue-grey fur. A thick snout with somewhat pronounced stop and long but thick legs. Blue eyes set against his malamute markings. Liver-colored nose and skin. A somewhat curled tail, perhaps the most obvious marker of his heritage.

Greywinter's former life as a pet is largely unknown, save that he never liked to speak about it. He was kept in a fenced yard, in a small town near the sprawling taiga. He escaped his human master when the wind blew the scent of the passing Ancestor Stone Pack - then still nomadic - by his nose.
Greywinter's joining of the pack was contentious, raising ire in Snowcap, Clearspring, and Autumnshade. Little Shell, as King, had the final say, and the wolfdog was accepted - on a trial basis.
His pet-name was Jasper, and his first name with Ancestor Stone pack was Outsider. When he joined the pack's hunting party, he befriended Bristleback - who was a driving force in giving Greywinter his pack-name and respect.
He died close to his 8th year, after a fever.

While Greywinter never had pups, he became mated to none other than his friend and confidant Bristleback, and the pair became the pack's most beloved hunters - providing food for the nomadic, often struggling members through the harshest times.
