"We have come a long way. My time is short, so let us enjoy the last days together in the warmth of sunlight, fields of flowers, soft spring winds, and gentle murmurs of the forest. Let us remember the beginning all the way until the end. I've built the pack from trust and loyalty, from friends met along the way of my journey. I had a lot to learn. Many have shared their wisdom with me and joined me in making the pack strong and prospering. Many seasons have come and went by like a breeze. Time seemed to stretch on infinitely in my youth, and now, in my old age, it seems like it had passed in moments. Now that my time is coming to join my beloved mate and old friends among the stars, I'm leaving the pack's legacy to you, Karma. I've taught you many lessons and I think you're ready, my daughter. Love my pack deeply, lead them to a bright tomorrow. Even though I'll be gone, you'll never be alone."
Cold early morning dew coated the earth, giving the air freshness. The small droplets would glimmer like stars in the first, soft sunlight. Wolves gathered around the cold, lifeless body of their leader, discovered by none other than her own daughter, Karma. No one thought the day would come. It came far too soon. Friends and family howled their sorrowful songs, filling the forest with them for miles, and everyone knew that the kind and wise wolf had passed. Rival wolves joined their song out of respect. Even the prey knew. The forest would stay calm and peaceful today. May she hunt with their ancestors among the stars and live on forever.
