Vipera — genus of venomous vipers found all over the world.
Vipera's mothering methods were not approved by the rest of the pack: she was a ruthless, unforgiving parent. It seemed like she didn't care about her pups at all but deep inside she wanted the best for her offspring. Unfortunately, her opinion on what's "best" was crooked. She'd let her children fight for food, for toys, even for her attention. Vipera would purposefully show more affection to whom she considered her best pups: the strongest and most talented ones, to "motivate" the weaker offspring to be better, only driving them into malnourishment and melancholy.
When the pack's pupsitters noticed her treatment of her own pups, they were horrified. They pleaded the leader to do something about it, otherwise this mother would leave their pack without a lineage to continue. Soon enough, she was sent to scout the nearby areas, day and night. All of her offspring was to be left with caring pupsitters, whom Vipera was very jealous of. However, her prideful character would not let her show any weakness. Vipera continued to guard the pack's territories fiercly and thoroughly on her own, convincing herself that only her strongest children can sirvive without her, and therefore it was all for the better.
