Second-born of the second female litter of Guardian and Sandy, Shade always looked up to her older sister. While not obsessed with exploring the world, Shade is positive that someday, she will be able to become better than her sister. Having always been belittled by her lack of knowledge and poor strength, Shade pushes herself to overcome these views to become the best that she can, so that one day, she can show her sister that she can be stronger or smarter than her.
Once, when she was alone, thinking of tactics that could possibly thwart her sister's ego, she was charged by an unknown and burly male. She could see his surprise in his eyes when he saw her though, so she knew he was just as jittery as she was from the sudden encounter when he barked angrily at her to stay out of his way when hunting. She confidently replied in a matter-of-fact way that prey is easy to come by here, to which he glared at her and threatened that it'd better be true or else, even though she could tell he was not thinking of harming her. When she later saw him, he spoke to her like an acquaintance, not someone he nearly ran over. He never mentioned the encounter to her again, so she knew he was embarrassed by his rash actions.
When they soon became close, Shade decided to leave her home pack to start her own with Modeus, as his gruff tone and outlandish stories fascinate her.
