Lailah was found amongst many other unwanted pups in the trade market. Aara saw her huddled amongst many other pups, offered up as a prospective brood mother for various wolf packs. Despite her disheveled appearance due to a poor diet and awful living conditions, there was a fiery glint to Lailah's eyes. Aara was attracted to this hint of spirit, but she was not in the trading center to purchase an unwanted pup. Aara spotted a raggedy wolf eyeing the pups in the pen, the faint smell of malice and blood emanating from its pelt. She knew that this wolf had ill intentions for any pup that came into their possession, however it was none of her business. She had barely enough food to feed her current pack members, let alone a young puppy.

Lailah was also carefully watching this terrifying wolf with wary eyes. She had seen many a wolf like it in the trading center, with whispers that the pups purchased by them were often never heard from again. She followed its gaze to the male pup she had grown close to during her few months at the trading center. He was weak and timid, often relying on Lailah who would save the meager scraps they were given for him. Lailah felt a sense of duty towards him, and instantly felt fear as the older wolf got the attention of auctioneer and began passing him some silver cones. The wolf was then allowed into the pen to retrieve its purchase and Lailah quickly jumped into action and placed herself between this evil wolf and her friend, a snarl curling across her face revealing baby teeth. She knew she would be unable to take on this wolf, but she would be unable to live if she didn't try. The wolf chuckled at her and easily tumbled her across the pen with a swipe of its paw. Lailah, weak from malnutrition, managed to find her feet despite the pangs of pain she felt in her tiny body. Gathering what strength she had in her body, she charged at the wolf. She sunk her teeth into the thick neck fur of the wolf, gagging at the faint taste of wolf blood in its fur. The wolf shoved her off again, no longer laughing. It pressed Lailah into the mud, snarling in her face. Lailah knew she would die in this moment, however, she was unaware of the ghostly wolf who was watching the entire scene. 

A voice rang out, commanding the wicked wolf to stop and unhand Lailah. She had been purchased by this wolf, who was struck by her bravery and dedication to another wolf. The scruffy wolf hesitantly let Lailah go, and the pale female wolf quickly picked her up by the scruff and carried her out of the pen. Lailah struggled a bit, desperate wanting to rescue her friend who was being carried off by the demonic wolf. The female who was carrying her growled lowly and grumbled, "Quit struggling pup, I'm saving your life here". Lailah whimpered something about why the she-wolf didn't save her friend and was plopped down onto the forest floor. 

"I only had enough cones to purchase you, pup," the she-wolf explained. "The laws prevent me from purchasing an already chosen pup unless I am able to outbid them - which I couldn't. Plus, that poor pup was diseased. He would most likely have passed despite your efforts anyway. Rather than getting yourself killed, you should live on with his memory fueling you. Your spirit is admirable, pup. I would like you to join my pack"

Lailah had quickly grown accustomed to this pack's lifestyle and had gained much respect among the pack members. Her skills and resolve made her a desirable candidate for becoming the next Alpha, and when Aara offered this position to her, Lailah gladly accepted. She was drawn to this pack's morals and goals, and wanted nothing more than to further this pack and make it a powerful force within the forest to fight back against darker forces. 

However, Lailah had also fallen for Aara's only surviving son - Cassiel. He was a kind wolf who helped her heal and adjust to the pack after Aara rescued her. His kind disposition made him an excellent herbalist, and Lailah found herself spending all of her spare time with him. The Alphas wanted them to hold off on having pups until Lailah was crowned as Alpha. Lailah planned on following their wishes, but unexpectedly became pregnant during late Autumn. Lailah and Cassiel decided to keep this a secret as much as they possibly could in order to avoid ruining Lailah's chances at becoming the Alpha. They were young and naive, but they were able to hide Lailah's pregnancy. However, when it was time for Lailah to have her pups, it was the dead of winter. Fearful, but not wanting anyone to know what was happening - even Cas - Lailah left the pack to find a safe place to welp her pups. She was followed by Aara, who had known about Lailah's pregnancy, but had a soft spot in her heart for both her son and Lailah and chose not to disclose what they had done. Aara helped Lailah give birth, however all of the pups were weak, and the freezing cold did not help. Lailah lost the whole litter to an illness that quickly raged through the pups, a punishment from the gods Lailah believed. She swore that, from that day, she would never deviate from the pack rules again and dedicated herself to the pack.
