Chirp is the oldest pup of Flick and the late hunter Alder. He is a Chaser in the Arrow Hunting Party and the youngest party member. He was the runt of his litter, but despite the odds ended up being the sole survivor of the litter. Fiercely independent, the young wolf is determined to prove himself as a skilled hunter and equal to his partymates. Beech, Stork, and Reed present a significant challenge because Chirp was half raised by Beech and is the same age as Reed and Stork's daughter Ripple. He respects the older wolves but cannot help but feel frustration at their perception of him as a young, immature pup. The exception to this is Ptarmigan, who has a more student-mentor relationship that is more respectful than condescending. Chirp finds comfort in his mate Fletch whenever he is home from hunting.
