daughter of audric + aiyana:

born alongside her sister, wren, vala never knew the origins of her older sister, enyo, who had left the pack. because of this, vala saw herself as her parent's first-born daughter, and her ego had shown for it as a pup. vala showed determination to follow after her father's pawsteps and, when the time was right, take over the pack. as such, she successfully asserted herself as a natural leader and provider for her pack, slotting herself naturally into leadership positions. she was a charismatic and verbose individual whose social networks were just as astute as her ability to lead. amongst her peers, she was an obvious fit for the job. however, her sister, wren, also had her eyes on the leadership position. while she was much less friendly than vala, wren's intelligence lent her well. unbeknownst to vala, wren was sneakily working to bring her sister down so she can claim the crown for herself.

on 05/03/21, audric took his final breath and joined his mate aiyana in the heavens. the pack is distraught - the deaths of both of their leaders all in less than a few months tolling the pack - and vala took it upon herself to comfort her packmates. around this same time, vala has fallen slightly out of favor with some members of the pack due to her pregnancy, harboring the bastard child of a neighboring pack's alpha. she was due for birth soon and many looked down at vala for soiling her lineage with neighboring blood, allowing wren, taking advantage of the situation, to assert herself as the new leader of the pack, much to the disconcerted vala, who believes the time should be spent in mourning and not in a showy abuse of power. vala was sated at the moment, running the pack alongside wren, but she watched her sister through distant, concentrated eyes, questioning her motive.

only a few weeks after wren took power, she gave birth to one son, pyre. though the neigh sayers still snubbed the child, many accepted him with open paws, dotting on him as the prized, first grandchild of the great audric and aiyana. vala, of course, loved her son entirely, uncaring of his bastard origins. she proved herself throughout her life to be a caring and graceful wolf not only to her pack members, but especially to her beloved child, who she clearly loved to the ends of the earth.

on 05/09/21, vala encountered a deep, obsidian-pelted wolf with icy eyes lingering along the edges of lichen valley pack territory. upon interrogation, she found that the male has left his old pack in favor of adventure. his name, she would come to find, is sirius and she found herself immediately enamored with him. lucky for her, he seemed to share that initial attraction, and he conceded to stay in the pack for a while... if vala were to be by his side.

together, they had only one son, kaido. sirius recalled he is the spitting image of his mother (kaido's maternal grandmother), and many theorize if sirius had not been affected with melanism he too would be the spitting image of his father.

on 08/06/21, vala died of mysterious circumstances and Wren grew increasingly hostile, to the point of physical aggression, when questioned. Wren's nephew and vala's son, pyre, a long-time protestor and openlly dissenting of Wren, immediately suspects Wren of murdering her sister in her attempt to claim lichen valley entirely for herself. A great fight ensues within the pack, and during the slashing of claws and gnashing of teeth, Wren admitted to her crime. She was swiftly killed by the jaws of her most powerful and intelligent scout, koujin. While still licking the blood from their fangs, the pack appointed pyre as the new leader. Not only had pyre been a direct heir to audric and aiyana, but he was wise to distrust Wren for a large bulk of his life, earning the respect of his compatriots. pyre only half-heartedly accepted the role, seeming uninterested in leadership, thus ending wren and his mother, vala's, great reign.
