Snarls

Sharp and dauntless. Fancied himself a grizzly bear.

An original member of the Gatherers, and the strongest--hence why he was tasked with delivering the killing blow to prey. He also believed himself the first line of defense against territorial intruders, often claiming he could take down a charging moose on his own. Of course, the similarly harsh Lightfall never let him get too full of himself, and thanks to Cloudsong's frequent patrols, he rarely had to deal with intruders anyway.

When Graytips neared the end of her life, she put Snarls in charge of the Gatherers in her place, a role which he had always taken seriously. It was a struggle to convince him he was too old to continue, and he even fought Mike for trying to take his place as Finisher. It was Cloudsong who finally made Snarls back down. Even to the end of his life, he refused to give up an ideal of being the pack's guardian and had ultimately completed 600 hunts.
