Initially, she was first recruited into the pack to care for Cloudsong's first litter of pups. However, when Cloudsong fell ill, Sunray immediately knew that herbs could be used to remedy her and sought out a wise bear for guidance. Since then, Cloudsong left her in charge of further research into remedies and herbs for the good of the whole pack. She loved to forage for herbs anyway, so the role was a natural fit for her. Often she would spend her days collecting such herbs and learning from that wise bear, surrounded by butterflies. Other times she would be a form of rational calm for Sunspot, who became her mate.

Toward the end of her life, she decided to pass on her wisdom to the next generation by bearing a litter with the aging alpha of another pack. Neither of her pups seemed to inherit her kind, nurse-like attitude, to her quiet disappointment, but she loved them anyway.
