After the death of the former Bringer of New Horizons, Jackal's Bite, Serenity of the Night was an unexpected choice. For many seasons it had been expected that Sunset's Warrior would take the reins when the time came. However, with Jackal's Bite finally accepting his death as it stared him in the eye, he would declare Serenity of the Night to be the next leader of the Children of Helios.
Too many seasons of stepping on Jackal's Bite's toes had cost the former Speaker his role in the pack, though he wasn't about to let things go as easily as some may. As Serenity of the Night was about to be named the pack's official Bringer of New Horizons, Sunset's Warrior would set about taking the pack's destiny into his own hands. After a fitful skirmish that left Sunset's Warrior without an eye, Serenity of the Night hesitantly took on the name Bringer of New Horizons.
While he still prefers to be referred to as Serenity, since his youth this Bringer of New Horizons has been rather quiet, preferring words over snapping teeth when it came to conflict. He was raised in much controversy; his unusually dark pelt didn't get him the most gracious of treatment within the pack, despite the best intentions of Jackal's Bite. While the former Bringer of New Horizons seemed to have well intentions, Serenity had always felt a bit like a pawn in the former leader's playbook. Making him the new Speaker after Sunset's Warrior felt more-so like an attempt to spit in the former Speaker's face rather than a genuine belief in his abilities, and that feeling has come only more-so prevalent with his newfound role as the Bringer of New Horizons.
Unlike his predecessor, Serenity doesn't wish to be hailed as a God of any sort, nor does he believe himself to be anywhere above his pack mates. Some part of him wishes he could still wander and seek the company of other wolves, but his new responsibilities make it necessary for him to remain with the pack a large amount of the time.
