Biography
(You-my)
It was a spectacle when the pup was brought to the pack.
Hyummbatt, looking rather sheepish, laid the whining scrap at the paws of Glacieus. The leader looked from the puppy to her lead scout, looking as unreadable as usual.
"So, Hyummbatt. What have you brought to me today?" Glacieus asked coolly. The other wolves had already gathered by now, all peering curiously at the pale pup. Ysivi gave his Scouting partner a sideways look, which 'Batt only returned with her signature glare.
"Glacieus." Hyummbatt finally started. "I was out scouting, and I found this puppy unsupervised on my way back. There was no scent around her. I figured she'd been left."
"Left?" Evagie leaned toward the pup, sniffing her fur delicately. The old wolf sniffed. "What wolf in their right mind would abandon a healthy pup?"
Glaciues went to speak again, but Hyummbatt got to it first. "That's just it, Everwalker. The pup- look at her eyes." 'Batt nudged the puppy's head to face the crowd, and she blinked open her little eyes. The pack's chattering grew as they realized one by one:
The pup was blind.
"You see why I couldn't leave it, right? I'm not wrong to care, Glacieus." The brown wolf snapped her head to stare up again at her leader. Getting defensive seemed natural for the scout.
Glacieus looked down at the pup for long moments, and the pack's chattering grew quiter and then stopped as the pause continued. The lead wolf looked up, and over to Frazionnte, who looked back at her and shook his head slowly.
A few long moments later, and Glacieus had made her choice.
"Take it back. This pup is not our problem."
Outroar. The pack was split on the fate of the poor scrappy thing. Older wolves like Evagie and Sivantiu wanted to keep the pup and care for her within the pack. Some other wolves, however, like Umbrihezin and Miestavon were against keeping a wolf who could not contribute.
After the bickering went on for some time, Glacieus howled for quiet. Unwillingly, the pack settled down. The wolves stood apart, and Glacieus was worried by the sight of it. Would every big decision be met with such chaos and discourse? The young wolf closed her eyes. They didn't have the space! The meeting she had just the night before was to discuss the very topic. The realization had to be that they could not take in another wolf- a puppy notheless! A blind puppy! Despite how wrong it felt in her bones, Glacieus knew this was her duty. She must make the just descision. She opened her mouth to speak again.
"We'll take her."
The pack all turned to the soft voice. Glacieus blinked at the wolf. Comulnet. The pack's Herbalist.
Ysivi brushed against his mate, speaking softly into her ear. The she-wolf gave him a firm not, and wagged her tail. Ysivi did not break her gaze for a moment, then sighed, nodding. Comulnet gave a happy yip and licked his nose, her tail wagging harder. Then, a detemined look on her face, she strode up to the leader and lifted her chin.
"Ysivivousvio and I wish to take in this pup as ours. With our duties, we will likely never get the chance to have a pup of our own. Ysivi is always out on the trails, and I'm still practicing my craft. When will I have the time to carry pups?" She asked, rhetorically. "Plus, if you would allow it, I could even make this pup my pupil! Think about it: She may be blind, but she still has her nose. That's all one really needs to be a good herbalist, really."
Glacieus stared at the she-wolf, thinking hard. The rest of the pack was in a quiet shock. Out of any wolf, only Comulnet was the only one beside Frazionnte that they could ever imagine making such a demand from their leader. Her confidence was awe-inspiring.
Frazionnte stepped up to talk, but Glacieus shook him away. She looked down at Comulnet, locking eyes with her.
"Comulnet, Ysivivousvio. This puppy will be both of your responsibilities, you understand?" Glacieus decided finally.
Comulnet nodded fervently, while Ysivi stepped forward and bowed his head in agreement. Glacieus let out a puff of breath, and turned her back.
"Very well."
The pack started to disband, with wolves whispering amongst each other and shooting glances towards Comulnet and her puppy.
The Herbalist shot back mean looks, before she heard the soft whining of the pup. She looked back at her. Her pup. Ysivi came up beside her mate, and they gave each other a small look. Comulnet moved and curled up around her puppy, and Ysivi did the same on the pup's opposite side. The puppy snuggled into them, sniffing and yawning. Ysivi leaned forward and gave the pup a firm lick between the ears, which prompted a cute squeak from the thing. He smiled. Comulnet was glad to see him like the pup.
"What should we name her? I never thought of names for pups before." Comulnet asked her mate warmly. She rested her head on his paws. Ysivi turned to her, still smiling.
"My love, let's decide later." He gently laid his head on hers. "Whatever it is, we will need to make sure it emcomasses who she will be, and not what she seems like now."
Comulnet felt sleepy, but she stayed awake. She wanted to watch her new pup forever and ever. To make sure she was always out of harms way.
"Yes," Comulnet whispered. "and she will be grand."
