Shadesnow was the "perfect" puppy of Darkstone's leading pair. His family and pack had high hopes for him, great expectations resting on the shoulders of a very young puppy. They told him he was special, but he struggled to believe it. When the other pups made mistakes, it was okay, they were still learning. When Shadesnow made mistakes, he wasn't trying hard enough, and his father Darksnow gave him extra lessons while all of Shadesnow's friends played.

He hated it, and slowly he grew resentful of his pack's ways. They had been formed in the highest peaks of the Stagshead Mountain Range, and since Darksnow and his mate Frostbite met and had their first litter of only one puppy - Shadesnow - it had kept expanding. By the time Shadesnow was a year old, it had conquered the Ash Highland Pack and covered much of the mountains. But Darkstone had outgrown itself.

They claimed Ash Highland Pack's land in early autumn, and they were flourishing. By the end of that next winter, Darkstone was no more. Food shortages had ravaged the pack and the survivors had fled south, into the vague hope of the distant prairie and desert. The only one who stayed behind was Shadesnow. His parents had died and he had no ties to the rest of the pack. He changed his name to Blizzard, clearing all memories of his old home, and turned away from the remainder of his pack. It was someone else's turn to be their savior.

Reina wanted to find a new family. Blizzard wanted to leave his old one behind.

When they first met, it was to quarrel over a carcass in the early days of spring. The snow was starting to melt in the valleys, but they were in the higher foothills, and both were hungry and scrawny. Reina, being the kind soul she was, made a compromise; they halve the meal. They went their separate ways after that, but only a few days later they happened to meet again. This time they decided to stay together, and soon found that hunting was easier with two then with one.

Soon, they became inseparable, and by the time they were nearly two years old, the pair decided to become mates. They officially started their own pack; a pack with no big expectations and no discrimination against those who were different. A pack for anyone. This pack was known as Istone Pack, or Icestone Pack. Soon, wolves had joined them; Claye, Sunny, Falcon, Sleet, Frisk, Lumaekete, and Thorn to name just a few.

Their pack changed over the years. Thorn, the herbalist, was replaced by Lichen. They had many pupsitters; the first and most iconic being a female wolf named Meta. Wolves joined and left; puppies were born and then went on to make their own lives.

Reina and Blizzard were growing old, both nearing seven years of age. They had time for one last litter of pups; that was all. And they were both happy with that. Over their long lives, they had built a new pack, one that was comfortable to live in a small valley that was nestled between the Stagshead and Ash Highland mountain ranges. Soon, it would be the time for Reina and Blizzard to become spirits roaming the infinite frozen plains, like the first wolves had done. But for now, they got ready to welcome more new lives into the world - a litter of puppies to continue their legacy.
