(Present Day)
Hi I'm Bendy, I'm a Scout and a beta. I love shiny things and chasing Chance around. He's my mate and Bestest Buddy Ever by the way. We may have gotten off on the wrong paw to start, but now we're always together. Princess demandy pants, is my sworn enemy. Never, have I disliked any-wolf, as much as I dislike her. She always acts like shes best and most important wolf world. At least Teak being her mate is helping to calm her down some, something about an alpha being soothed by an omega's scent. I don't really remember. Sometimes my memory is kinda bad and I forget things, but that's why I have Chance he's the best rememberer.
(The Past)
Her home in the mountains was all she'd ever know. Safe and warm, nestled deep in the plush fur of her mothers belly. She grew and played with the other pups in the nursery, running around the entire camp to pester any grown ups they could. Sometimes the older pups would stop by after apprentice training, some tired, others itching to share their skills with the younger pups. Though her mother never allowed her to spar or run off and explore with the adolescents, she didn't object as much to storytelling. Tales of mock battles against fierce enemies and wild competitions to hunt the largest prey, spilled from their maws like the waterfall just outside pack territory. The best stories were told by the scout apprentices. Hearing the tales of their adventurers through dense forests, grassy plains, bone searing deserts, made her eyes sparkle and her imagination soar. She had never been more certain of anything in her entire tiny life, when she got big, she was going to be a scout. Never bending to her mother's constant disapproval, that she was just too scatterbrained for something so big, that she would easily get lost or hurt, that there were predators lurking around every rock and tree, waiting for the chance to strike. She was going to explore every Biome know to wolf-kind, NOTHING, not her mother, not even the alpha, could stop her form chasing her dream.
(2 1/2 months)
The decision had been made. Her feelings about, 'The Terrible Awful No Good Thing' didn't matter. Nothing mattered. She was leaving her pack, one way or another, no questions, no answers, just leave. A lot of wolves have been leaving the pack recently, adults, adolescents, and now pups apparently. When given the choice of being chased off like an adolescent, forced to grow up fast or be someones dinner, or to be sold off to another pack to be used for who knows what, the answer was clear. At least she thought the answer was clear. "Mama, I'll be fine on my own. I can handle it, really." Whining probably wasn't the best way to show her maturity, but nobody ever listened to her unless she was whining so why stop now? Her mother never really listened anyways, always preferring to observe from a distance before casting her judgment down like an axe in to a tree. Her mother held tight on to her scruff, grip bordering on painful, and huffed, "You would do very poorly on your own. Not only are you unweened, your not always aware of your surroundings. Lets say you leave with the other adolescents. You all gather your things and trot out of camp, fooling around because everything is, 'Totally Awesome' and, 'Tubular Dude', your all very proud to be adults out on your own. Your losing track of time having so much fun, when all of a sudden...BOOM!! The lot of you had been so busy playing around, no-wolf noticed the wind turning or the the darkening of the sky. The deafening rumbles of thunder and blinding streaks lightning, have you all running scared in different directions, rain stings your back and wind chills your bones, hunger gnaws at your unders, begging for milk you can no longer receive. You have no shelter, no pack, and now your cold, wet, hungry, and terrified. Going off on your own still sound fun?" Mother's words buzzed around in my head like angry bees. Why does she always have to be right about these things, "Maybe this is the right thing for me, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I don't want a new pack, or new friends, and I definitely don't want a new mother." Mother's eyes softened at the quiver in my voice, "Dearest heart, I know that these things can be frightening, but this is for the benefit of the pack. All pups have to leave sometime, sadly your time has come too soon. You only need to remember the things I've taught you. The protection and warmth I've provided, the life you've lived. Remember the stories told by the pups and elders of this pack. Remember your dreams, dearest one. I disapproved of them before only because I didn't wish to see you hurt, now I tell you to chase them, high in to the clouds and to never look back. Remember your spark Dearest, and you can do anything you set your mind to. If you ever feel lonesome in your new home, think of these things and you'll find that we're always with you."
It had been three hours since they had said goodbye and it had been a lot more emotional then she thought. She had been placed on a tree stump with a price tag scratched in to the wood. "This adoption system sucks!" She shouted, in an attempt to gain attention. Suddenly a pup appeared, snuffling the ground beside her, "So your the source of that weird smell." He said tail wagging. Weird!!! She'd show him weird. With a surprisingly well timed pounce, she had him pinned and vulnerable. "Chance! What did you do now, we were supposed to stick with mommy!!!" A shrill voiced, female pup yelled from halfway across the plaza. She marched over to them, tail and nose turned towards the sky, "And who is this pup, a trouble maker like yourself Chance?" Troublemaker! What was with these pups and name calling. She was going to teach this snooty pup some manners. The snooty pup's only warning was a low rumble, before her paws were swept out from under her. Snooty pup landed hard, her jaw clacking against the sun baked, paw beaten trail. Tears welled in her eyes and she let out an even higher pitched whine, before all out bawling took its place. Bendy noticed all the attention they were drawing and climbed back on her stump, if everyone was going to stare, they might as well be looking at her price tag too. A grey, black, and white furred female alpha approached them, she eyed all three pups present and then sighed, "What did you two do now." The cream and glaucous furred pups in front of her started to talk over one another, how quickly snooty pup bounced back from the 'pure agony' she was in just a second ago, Bendy thought, as she quickly lost interest in the 'blame game' the slightly older pups were playing. "Hey kid," the alpha asked. The alpha? Why was this alpha talking to her again? "Pup, earth to puppy. Hey are you broke kid," the alpha and the pups were staring now. Bendy looked at them, she couldn't remember what she had done now, something good she hoped, but she knew she had to respond quick or risk looking even dumber than she already did. "Who are you and where's my mother? Are you my pupsitter, this doesn't look like the mountains, is this the trading center, I've only heard wolves talk about it I've never been? When is my mother coming back?" Once Bendy got started, her questions never seemed to run out, as the alpha attempted to answer most of her questions, the alpha asked if she remembered anything from the past few hours and Bendy knew what had happened in an instant. As if explaining her (slight) memories problems wasn't hard enough for her, hearing the alpha's suspected reasons for her being sold wasn't any better. The alpha's eyes softened at the tears in her eyes, wait hadn't she seen that same expression today? "You want to come with us pup? It just so happens that I'm looking for some playmates for my own pups," she said, radiating a familiar warmth. 'Maybe this wont be so bad', Bendy thought, as she smiled back at this alpha. This alpha had known her all of ten minutes, yet she still wants me, even with my problems. 'Maybe this will be the thing the tips me toward my dream,' she thought, as they walked away from her stump in the trading center. 'Maybe mother knew all along.'
