Personality: A quiet, sweet young wolf, Perch loves problem-solving and riddles. She gets along extremely well with her more upbeat (and less bright) yearmate, Dane. 

Naming Conventions: Fish, second generation

Meet Perch! The first of The Sanctuary Pack’s third generation, Perch was born to Apprentice Scout Dace. After the pack’s first, harsh winter, Dace grew increasingly solitary and ambitious, and took up scouting duties in an effort to grow stronger and prover herself.

During a scouting run in late spring, she ran across a handsome lone-wolf; one thing led to another, and by summer Dace had given birth. But her pregnancy was troubled, and the whelping started to go wrong; she needed medical help.

Dace has a somewhat strained relationship the pack’s herbalist, Saturn, who is also her mother. However, during the difficult birth, Saturn was invaluable. Steady, calming, and competent, she guided Dace well, and without Saturn none of the pups would have survived. 

Passing-down name conventions, in wolf society, is a sign of family ties, or that a wolf is proud of where they came from. Saturn named Dace and her brother after a species of fish and, after it became clear that one pup would make it, Dace- somewhat stiffly- approached her mother, and asked if she knew anything about the fish that ran the pack’s streams.

And so Perch got her name. And- while Dace and Saturn’s relationship is still a little cool- Perch is decently close with her grandmother. Although her father isn’t in her life, she has a large, loving family to raise her.
