Cerai, daughter of Arynn

Cerai is the only surviving daughter of her parents, Arynn and Marakin, two of the first wolves to join the pack. She was placed into a hunting team as a stalker the moment she was of age, having been trained by her mother until her death during Cerai’s adolescence, and then watched over by Aysi in her first months as a stalker. Cerai enjoyed what she did, and the future for her looked bright.

Then a new, blue-and-white wolf arrived in the pack, and things started to go downhill. Athrin -- that was the blue wolf’s name -- spent hours in hushed conversations with Aethriel, just out of earshot. Many of the hunters watched with curiosity, wondering what in the world had to be kept so secret, and eventually Cerai worked up the courage to sneak over and attempt to listen in.

Athrin pointed her out immediately. Aethriel was enraged by her behavior -- too much so, in Cerai’s opinion -- and removed her from the hunting team, replacing her with the brown and white wolf Aerin. Instead of being able to do the thing she loved, Cerai was forced to go out and scout the glaciers alone, only returning home a few times a month.

Her mild dislike for Athrin became hatred when the blueish wolf replaced Elarin as a chaser after the older wolf’s death. How could she get onto the hunting team so easily, but Cerai, a dedicated stalker, was removed because of one transgression?

Eventually Aysi died, and Cerai resumed her stalker duties for the main team. She still despises Athrin, though, and is convinced that the blueish wolf is the cause of Aethriel’s strange behavior.
