Biography
Wen Ning (温宁, Wēn Níng), courtesy name Wen Qionglin (温琼林, Wēn Qiónglín), is a member of the Qishan Wen Clan while alive. In death, Wen Ning becomes the first Fierce Corpse to regain his consciousness and is known as the Ghost General (鬼将军, Guǐ Jiāngjūn), Wei Wuxian's right-hand man.
Appearance:
While alive, Wen Ning is described a handsome youth with fine, delicate features and pitch-black eyes. He wears the Qishan Wen Clan's sun robes
Wen Ning retains his delicate features as a fierce corpse, though he is also paler than in life, with a melancholy air. Like all fierce corpses, Wen Ning's eyes lack pupils and cracked black lines extended from his neck to his face. His clothes are tattered at the hems and sleeves, and black chains trail from handcuffs around his wrists and ankles.
Personality
In life, Wen Ning is shy and nervous, and suffers from a stutter.
After his death, Wen Ning becomes an extremely strong fierce corpse precisely due to his tendency to hold in his negative emotions However, unlike many prominent members of the Qishan Wen Clan, Wen Ning has a strong sense of honor, kindness, and loyalty.
Wen Ning is profoundly grateful to Wei Wuxian for encouraging his archery skills, and as a result, Wen Ning risks his life to save Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng after the fall of Lotus Pier
Wen Ning deeply loves and cares for others.
He willingly sacrifices himself to ensure the safety of not only his friends and family, but even those who hate him.
Wen Ning remains sensitive to the bloodshed he carries out as a fierce corpse once Wei Wuxian loses control, expressing guilt and sorrow for those he killed
Despite his inability to cry anymore, Wen Ning shows deep emotions when his murdered friends and family come to his aid during the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds.
He also seems to be protective of children, as he fights Nie Mingjue's strong fierce corpse to save the children Nie Mingjue had originally targeted.
Over time, Wen Ning learns to stand up for those he cares about, even at the cost of breaking a promise and to follow his own path in life.
