Ygg ❆✒️

As Yggs father and aunt died, Yggs mother, Tola, was understandably lonely and sad. Ygg tried to encourage her to seek out her old friends who left the pack, maybe someone was still alive? Sadly he knew one of her old friends was dead, and he decided not to bring her up in case his mother didn't know already. But it was no use, his mother was unconsolable. She was old as well, and spend most of her time sleeping. Yggs aunt, Hel, had been the pupsitter of her last litter and Tola didn't see a use in finding a new one. Ygg knew it was necessary though. He didn't want Himle to get a hold of another puppy.

Ygg was ready to plead to his sister that they needed to look after the pups together, but she was immedietly agreeing. Ygg was the head of the cave now that his father was dead, as he was the oldest wolf of the Skade lineage, so he wanted to take care of everyone. The pups looked so much like their parents, he named them after them. Lilltola and Lusselill. Maybe when they weren't so small, he would exchange the "lill" part for something else.

Ygg was nothing short of an old wolf, having responsibly led Skades descendants with a gentle but strict paw for many years after his father died, when two pups were delivered to his cave.
"What's going on?" Ygg asked the messenger, who shrugged.
"I was told to come to this territory and find the black wolf with black eyes and a silver blaze," she responded, "That's you, isn't it?"
Ygg was speechless but couldn't disagree, he nodded at the stranger.
"Congrats," the wolf said and started to walk away.
"Wait!" Ygg ran after her out into the rain, with the two puppies stumbling right behind, "what about the mother?"
The wolf shook her head, "I don't know who it is, I was given this job by my alpha, and he didn't tell me anything. I'm sorry."
"Then where does your pack live?" Ygg pleaded.
"The woodlands," was the last thing the wolf said before leaving. No wonder she was in a rush, that's really far. Too far for an old wolf to travel in the hopes of finding.. finding what exactly, a mother, a pack, that doesn't want these pups anyway? Oh, the pups.
"Come on little ones, let's get you inside," Ygg said as he ushered the puppies away from the rain and into the warm cave.

"It's obvious they're yours, they look just like you," Agi said as they watched the puppies. One was sleeping soundly, seemingly enjoying getting its ear cleaned by its sibling.
"But Agi," Yggs heart ached as he looked at her and had to say it, "what if I die?"
Agi looked pained too, she looked away and they both stayed silent for a moment.
"My daughter is only a month older than them, you know," she said, and Ygg understood Agi was worried about the same thing. Leaving their pups all alone.
"Let's not worry too much. We might still have time to watch them grow up," Ygg said, but he didn't believe it. He didn't show it to anyone, but he was feeling the effect of age clearly. But he smiled at his sister and said, "we will find someone who can care for them before we go."

Ygg was out teaching the pups, who he had named Sken and Skugga, when his bad leg acted up. When they got home, he laid down and felt so tired. The puppies played and licked at his face, and Ygg laughed.
"Calm down puppies," he said and took a break to breathe, "your auntie will be here to play with you soon."
Ygg laid his heavy head down and one of the pups yawned. The other nuzzled up next to his face.
"Good pups," he murmured, "pappa needs a short nap, that's all."
But the nap wasn't short at all.
