Callisto

Callisto's dream was to follow in her big sister's footsteps. Andromyda was born in the same pack as Callisto, but from different parents. However, being so close in age, they were practically siblings.

When Andromyda left, taking their friend Jupiter with her, Callisto was at a loss. She milled around their home pack for several weeks, until her mother chased her out. "You're doing us no good here, moping about. Go find your sister, join her pack, and be of some use to some wolf." Then she snapped her teeth at Callisto's tail for over a mile, chasing her only daughter out of the pack for good.

Callisto did just that. Blessedly there had been no rain to wash away Andromyda and Jupiter's trail. She followed it faithfully, only deviating to hunt occasionally. After less than a month, she had caught up to the pair, only to find Andromyda had given birth to two pups of her own.

"They're Jupiter's", Andromyda told her with a hint of distaste. "I wouldn't have picked him as a mate, except he was the only male around. You'll understand when you go into heat."

It was true - Callisto felt bad for the two puppies, with their ugly colorations. If Pluto, the new lead wolf, had been around when Andromyda was in need of a mate, surely her pups would have been beautiful and talented. But Jupiter, a chronic goof-off and forgettable wolf, was nobody's first choice for mate.

He was, however, the leader of the hunting party, and thankfully, their childhood friendship earned Callisto a place among the hunters. She is desperate to prove herself, and cement her place as a member of the pack.
