Fern

Fern arrived in the pack around the same time as Boulder, and the two became close friends, despite (or maybe because of) her cocky, "nothing-can-hurt-me" attitude.

The pack considered making her a Healer under Stone, however, she showed great skill in hunting. There was still hesitation in training her for either, as Fern didn't want to be a Healer despite having the skill, and none of the hunters were available to teach her- the party of four was already stretched thin.

As a young adult finding her place in the pack, Fern became pregnant in late winter, something forbidden by punishment of the pup's health.

Seeing this, River announced the Fern would be a temporary Pup-Sitter.

However, it wasn't long before River secretly returned to her, with two more pups to raise. The Alpha swore that, as long as Fern treated the pup's as her own, she could have her old position back. Fern readily accepted - she was ready to be hunting again,  and Daylight was more than ready to care for the pups. Besides, nobody can complain about her pups eating too much if she's out hunting for them, right?

She deeply loved all the pups as her own - only River, Daylight, and Stone knew the truth, although never told her who the "real" mother is. Fern never asked. Sure, she could see River's pining stares, but she knew who really was the one raising the pups.

Raven's Flight was the only one of the litter to stay.

It was seasons later when Fern and Clara, the two most capable she-wolves in the Pack, finally became mates. For all Clara's brilliance and Fern's arrogance, the two never seemed to be able to address their feelings.

The two had pups around the same time - Fern with much hesitation.

The two loved the pups - Codrin, Adela, and Peach - deeply, and even adopted a blind pup, Shiver.


However, after many seasons and a long life, a great sickness swept over the Pack, killing many wolves. Peach, the Healer at the time, was unable to stop it, and Fern and Clara died alongside each other
