Born in the springtime, Ruddy and Viper’s first born quickly differentiated herself from her siblings. Strength unrivaled and devastating optimism helped propel the finishers’ daughter into the Lykaon’s favor. It was a glorious day when she defeated her brothers and sisters in single combat, earning her name.

”As your mother strikes like a viper and your father red as clay in the river, we shall call you Death Adder after the red snake that roams these foothills,” the Lykaon proclaimed. He touched Adder’s shoulder with his paw. “May you provide like your father and mother before you.”

Looking on, Adder could see her parents’ proud, old faces. They had long suffered and lived. True they were still strong and yes Adder was lucky to still have them both at this age, but she could see some sorrow in their eyes—the same sorrow that haunted so many of the older hunters’ faces. Many other children of Swiftflame’s reign weren’t so lucky and were orphaned or themselves unfit to bare names, just like her siblings.

After their defeat, her siblings were cast out. Some whispers were that they were killed and buried in the bog nearby. However, Adder was proud to have her place and forgot the hardships she faced against her jealous siblings. Adder basked in the Lykaon’s Favor and knew she would always have a place as long as her loyalties were known.
