Arete is a wolf that both outsiders and pack members fear. It was the second wolf to approach Razael with interest in joining the kin. When it came to the trials, it succeeded in tenfold. Razael treats it like a prize he has won. Arete eats up all the attention given to it, using their popularity with the pack leader to get their own way with other members. The rest of the kin, even Razael's own blood, have come to resent Arete, but the leader reaffirms that it has earned it's place within their home. Arete always manages to flash a toothy grin behind the leader's back…

Arete is many things. Selfish, cruel, apathetic, but above all they are loyal to Razael. The two admired each other for their unyielding natures and have always found solidarity in that. When Razael found out that three of his senior pack members tried to take his life, Arete was the first wolf by his side to demand they pay for what they'd done. It was also the only wolf willing to fight alongside it's leader to kill the traitorous wolves.

Seeing Razael killed by his heir has not sat well with Arete. Its old age has prevented it from rebelling like they used to but it is still as brazen as ever. It wears the scars of its battles with pride to make sure none of the pack members forget what it is capable of, even if Razael is no longer there to fight by its side.
