Appalachia

When the pack started off, Appalachia wasn't always so fond of her Alpha and future mate. Dioute was young, inexperienced in the ways of a pack, and his lack of leadership bloodline. He was too close with the Elk of Hemlock Shade Forest, which made it harder to find prey. He was allowing too many outsiders to join and not pursuing an active role in finding a companion and second-alpha, as was custom of the wolf packs in the region. 

However, as time passed and Dioute's gentleness, inherited from the Elk, began to make itself known to Appalachia. Growing fond of him and his peacekeeping nature, she lost a bit of her former bite and started to try and contribute in her own way. She started to train as a herbalist, wishing to help others who were in need. She found herself to be very skilled in this area and began to thrive as the lead herbalist. Dioute, to her unexpected disappointment, chose a mate in she-wolf, Oaken. She became pregnant with his puppies. When she gave birth to one son named Conoco, she left Dioute with his single pup for another pack.  

Appalachia distanced herself from heartbroken Dioute and his son. However, after some time, he started to seek her out, confiding in her that he and Oaken's relationship had been deteriorating anyway. As she and Dioute grew closer, he asked her to be his mate and second-alpha. She agreed, promising fidelity, and soon after, became pregnant. She gave birth to a single son and took in Conoco alongside him. 

Conoco and Pocono became the scouts of Wapiti Run. Appalachia gave birth later to more of Dioute's pups; Kia and then Sipo. Atfer a recent litter loss, which Dioute and herself mourned greatly, they found a young pup that they named Allegewi and adopted into their family. She has also welcomed a young fox named Keokuk into the Pack, who helps her with healing and training apprentices. She continues as the Herbalist of Wapiti Run, dedicated to the health of the pack wolves and their well-being. As she grows older, she has started training young Ahke to follow in her stead. 

Lately, especially after giving birth to her and Dioute's final daughter, Tio, she has felt more her age. She decided to retire and spend her days raising her youngest as best she can. Keokuk visits her often but decided to help Ahke in the herbal den. She is tired, but has served her Pack well. She looks forward to evenings when her Dioute returns to camp and spends hours talking with her. She loves counting the gray hairs in his muzzle, enough to match her own.
