Skald✒️

When Skald was born, his father Ull had just lost his sister, who was very dear to him. Skald was named in her honour, with a name that resembled hers.

Skalds mother was a great finisher, and so was his grandmother and his older brother. Appearently, his father had been a hunter too, but that's not how Skald remembered him. This is because Ull retired of old age before Skald was even born. Skald grew up with Ull close by at all times, he was not a warrior at all! Ull always sang songs, the backround noise of Skalds life was his pappas humming, and that's how Ull would be remembered by his youngest son.

"Pappa, why do you sing all the time?" Skald asked one evening after Ull had sang him a goodnight song.

"Do you want me to stop?" Ull was calm and smiled gently despite the sad question, and Skald shook his head so violently, Ull let out a rumbling laughter and continued, "singing is a good way to express emotions. It makes the sad moments of life easier, and it makes the best moments of life happier. It makes wolves closer to eachother as they share an emotion, as they sing to celebrate or to mourn, or anything in between."

Skald nodded and then dozed off to sleep as Ull started humming while holding the pup.

When Ull passed away, everything became quiet.

Skald lived a calm and peaceful life. He wasn't interested in hunting, but he "had" to contribute to the pack appearently, Alpha Gerd had told him. So he was a pupsitter. And he actually loved it! Not to mention, he got to sing how much he wanted, and teach the puppies all of the songs he knew, to pass them on from his father.

Eventually though, Björnstjärna died, and Skalds nephews who were older than him refused to become the head of the cave. Skald hadn't foreseen this, so he was a bit surprised, but he rose up to the occasion without problem.
