humble: she has never sought power, or adventure, or grandness of any sort. her family is full of wanderers, but Sicraul is happy at home, with the company of her sisters and her friends.

Sicraul grew up in a nursery filled with playmates. although the Pines approached their second change in leadership, there was none of the tension that had lingered over Urwain'ghrac's rise to power - they knew what was expected, now, and knew that it would not be an end forged in chaos and destruction. there was no danger to be found, when Sicraul was a pup, or more precisely no more danger than usual in the wilds. it was safe as it could be, and it was happy.
but Sicraul's mother was old, when she had her final litter. so was her mother's littermate Holursa, who had her own daughter Lurcagir, born barely days apart from Sicraul. the two pups had been raised like sisters more than anything, and their mothers were like mothers to them both. Holursa passed first, when sickness reared its head at autumn's end; Sicraul's mother Tohumok'yol barely reached the start of spring. the cousins had not yet finished their training.
there had been another pup as well, who had been tutored by the oolaursa. a newcomer to the Pines entirely, found alone in the woods - Merganser, a silvery she-pup with eyes red as yew-berries. Tohumok'yol had been training her as a future chaser. the little pup had chosen her as her first friend, and was devastated by the loss. at first Sicraul was angered by this: how dare the pup wail like her heart had been broken, when she had hardly known Tohumok'yol a moon, and Sicraul had known her for so much longer?
then she realised that a moon was a good part of young Merganser's life, when she had not even seen three seasons - and that the cousins had not known Tohumok'yol for so long either, in the grand scheme of things. would Tohumok'yol's elder daughter curse Sicraul and Lurcagir for mourning their mother, since Kheliku had known her for more than twice the time? of course not - it would be absurd. so the cousins took Merganser aside and promised to share their mothers' stories with the pup, the beliefs and customs and history that they had passed down to their daughters. together they would carry on their legacies.

Tohumok'yol: mother.
Holursa: aunt, and something of a second mother to Sicraul. the littermates were very close and raised their children together, as though all were their own.
Sihrain'kau: Holursa's mate, and a part of Sicraul's youth as well.
Lurcagir: cousin, but close as littermates. they meet regularly, and Sicraul deeply trusts Lurcagir to guard each one of her litters when Sicraul is called away by her duties. when Lurcagir was promoted to the lead denminder, Sicraul was unsurprised and celebrated it loudly for all to hear.
Merganser: sister. their relationship is a little different now that Merganser is an acolyte, but they still claim each other as kin, and still make time for each other whenever they can. moreover, Sicraul is glad that Merganser found her place, when for some time she wasn't sure that was a possibility.
Kheliku: older sister. Kheliku has their family's wandering soul, and some days Sicraul can find her quite exhausting. they haven't ever been particularly close, though they do care for each other and make time to catch up occasionally.
Lausemar: nephew, and half-sibling as well by their shared sire. as the homebodies of the family, they get along quite well, and when Lausemar is tired of his mother's adventurous spirit it's often Sicraul that he goes to. sometimes she sees the same frustration in Kheliku's eyes that she saw from their own mother, when Sicraul was Lausemar's age. she's determined that her nephew will be protected from it, as much as she can manage.
