eh-SELL : the second
Esel's first name was not "Esel". Esel's first name was actually "Magpie", but Kulshan didn't like it. At least, that was the assumption he got when he first found her, hungry and alone, wandering aimlessly in to other wolves' territories. He thought her sheer unwillingness to acknowledge borders and potential threats endearing, and so when she wandered into his territory, he let her stay for a few days. Those few days soon became a week, and then two, when she refused to leave his den. On the morning of the start of the third week, when Esel woke up to an empty den, he realized he couldn't let the strange wolf be alone, and set out to find her.
Esel followed her scent to an unclaimed patch of land in the mountains, and when Kulshan confronted him, she was the one who decided to let him stay. She refused to call him "Magpie" though, and insisted his name would be Esel - the second. As in, as she said, "the second you don't listen to me, you're gone". Esel didn't complain when she introduced him to the next few wolves of the pack as "Esel", and eventually the name just kind of stuck. Esel is the second-in-command of the pack, the second wolf to join the pack, and the second-most respected, behind Kulshan, of course.
He is most known for second-guessing the addition of Kosah, the pack's healer, because he felt she was too interested in joining a group of younger wolves. He considered her to be a nag, and refused to listen to her advice. However, the first time he got sick, he realized she had no ill intentions for the group, and warmed up to her. They had a dizzying romance, and quickly became mates. Several pups raised later, Kosah and Esel have one of the strongest bonds in the pack, and live together in a den with their other children. He and Kulshan are still best friends, and he takes his responsibility as second-in-command very seriously.
