“That was... odd,” Egg said when the other two wolves had left.

“You’ll get used to it, if you stay,” Goldie assured the newcomer with a slow wag of her tail. 

After years of stalking, and more success hunting with her team than not, Goldie found herself dreaming of snow while the pavk resided in the desert. She’s never even seen snow, but she described it to Crypt who had seen it on his many scouts. 

The dreams continued, returning each night. Gliding along the landscape, finding the river between the trees that would take her to the glacier.

So when she eventually confessed her dreams to Thyla, the enigmatic alpha made her a scout and sent her north to the snow, to seek out whatever was calling to her in her dreams.

She would look until she returned pregnant from one scouting expedition, then remained home with her pups until the last if her days, forever wondering if she’d found what she was supposed to seek.
