"He doesn't seem interested in learning about this at all!" he overheard his mother talking to his uncle.
"Maybe he just doesn't want to?" Uncle answered calmly.
"He's our only contribution to be the next leader though," Mamma sighed.
"I'm sure Gerd will find a good replacement. Why do you worry so? We won't be around when that happens," his uncle seemed nonchalant about it but the pup thought of mamma dying and it made him shudder. He decided to not snoop around anymore, but the conversation continued without him around the corner.
"When we are gone, you know who will wear that necklace after you. I.." she paused and lowered her voice, "I don't know if you feel the same way, but I don't think he will make something good out of our grandmas cave, and I don't think he's fit for being an advisor for the next alpha either. This puppy is our only chance to leave something good behind, isn't he?"
