[... The young speckled she-wolf gave out a sigh; she could barely keep her eyes open. Aussie picked up some herbs and walked thru the den to drop them in front of her mentor's nose. The old she-wolf opened her eyes and sniffed what the other brought before pushing it away and settling her head down on her paws. Aussie's fur bristled as she looked at her mentor with anger.
"Kali!" She barked; note of desperation could be heard in her angry voice. "Please, you cant just..." She began but a loud cough of older wolf made her hush immediately.
"It is okay, Aussie, just let me go. Nothing lasts forever, my dear, and my time is coming to end." Kali said with a weak voice. "I trained you well, you are ready to take over healing other wolves." She added giving her apprentice a small smile.
Feeling deep sadness breaking her heart, Aussie lay down on the ground, her flank touching her mentor's. "Thank you for everything, Kali." That was the only thing she was able to say to her dying mentor. Soon, the old she-wolf's breathe began to fade, just to completely disappear a few moments later. Young herbalist stood up and touched Kali's nose with her nose, greeting her for the last time. She made her way thru the den, towards the exit. Pink sky was so pretty this morning. "What a pity you didnt make it to see it, you'd love it." She thought and sighed before she went to look for Nightfall to share the news with her...]
