Biography
Fir Cone was mentored by Climbing Bear, he showed interest in healing and Bear was eager to take on an apprentice, while he loved the Mossy Hollow pack, he realized he wanted to find a mate and territory of his own one day, that he didn't want to spend his life here.
Fir learned quick, absorbing every word that Bear told him, and soon experimenting with other remedies and methods, improving on Climbing Bear's meager knowledge.
When Bear decided to leave the pack, Fir was sad to see him go but confident in his own knowledge, and he took to the role of herbalist immediately. He found purpose in healing and improving his techniques.
One day when out foraging, he found a lone pup. There was no scent of any other wolves on her pelt, she was hungry and whimpering, after examining the area and finding nothing he took her back to his den. After feeding her and checking her over for injuries, he spoke to Cub about it, she told all patrols to keep an eye out for any wolves who knew this pup but nothing ever came of it.
She was special, he knew it, her eyes looked like nothing he had ever seen before, clear blue, almost glowing.
He named her Chalcedony, she was always eager to lend a hand and learned fast, spending most of her time in his den, he had promised Cub that he would care for her and raise her and he did his best, he was very young to be raising a pup but something told him it was his duty. She helped him when he went out to forage, and dealt with injuries and sickness when he was away.
As she grew up, he worried that she would choose to leave the pack once she came of age. He noticed her staying out for longer than usual, but she would always returned with bundles of herbs for him, sometimes rare and hard to gather ones. She was very affectionate with him, but he was shocked when she admitted her feelings for him. He tried his best to gently turn her down, how could he be mates with a wolf he raised? He still treated her the same, but he saw her differently after that.
On a cold spring morning, he slipped into his den after a few days away gathering herbs. Chalcedony was curled around a sick puppy, Fir could see she was stained green with herbs, he smiled, his chest filled with pride as he padded up to her softly and rested his nose on her head, breathing in deeply then curling around her and falling asleep with her.
It took a while for him to admit to himself he was in love, but when her sparkling blue eyes met his he couldn't deny it. He told her one day when they were out foraging, that he didn't want to pressure her, if she had moved on, but that he realized he felt the same way as she previously did about him.
