Biography
Cub was a devoted leader, spending all her time on her pack, whether through making sure everyone was cared for or exploring new territory to search for hunting grounds, training the pups or checking on the new mothers, her pack was her life. Slate practically had to force her to stay and settle in when they had their first litter.
Slate's calmer nature helped to temper her focus.
Cub took special interest in Topaz's training, often choosing to train him herself, she saw potential in him despite his troublesome nature.
The events of Coigreach tore at Cub. She could barely sleep while it was all ongoing, spending nights awake in thought, trying to figure out what was going on, to piece together the evidence and come up with some kind of answer. Slate would have to practically drag her to their den, telling her she wouldn't be any use to anyone if she didn't get some rest, he would curl around her and groom her until she finally couldn't keep herself awake any longer.
Slate ended up taking on a lot of her responsibilities, she kept forgetting things, and she would often disappear off either to hunt for more information or to spend time with the Chaorainn pack. Slate was terrified the first few times she wandered off on her own, he made her promise to tell him and to take someone else with her after that.
The visions haunted her, she caught herself being extra protective over Muddy Stream, her daughter, and her granddaughters Ash and Charcoal, the feelings of losing "her pups", the pups that Bronagh had lost, stuck with her.
The decision to leave Pebble and Topaz's pup to Bronagh haunted her even worse, their sweet little daughter left to that cave. She was close to Topaz, she personally trained him, she knew what a strong wolf he was and how much he loved his pups, how he had dreamed of being a father.
Seeing him broken, and their remaining son's red hot anger at his sister being given up but not him, tore her heart to pieces. They had offered it themselves, they knew something had to be done to stop the disappearances, but Cub felt that it was her fault, what if there was another way? She saw their daughter's face in her dreams most nights.
Cub had her second litter only a month or two later, two healthy daughters that she named Fall and Flame for their vibrant pelts, taking after their mother.
She couldn't tear herself away from them, those visions kept flashing in her mind, how much it hurt to lose pups. She knew they were strong, and they had a whole pack to look after them, but she just couldn't leave them, so Slate and her daughter and granddaughter, Mud and Ash, took over leadership while Cub's pups were nursing. Slate spent as much time with them as he could, leaving Mud and Ash in charge much of the time. While Ash was still very young, she had spent a lot of time with her grandparents and she knew well how to handle leadership.
Her mate and her partner in everything, Slate, died before Cub. After losing him, she just waited for her own death to come. She was content, her pack was strong, Marsh Reed would take care of everything until her great-great grandson Lion was prepared to take her place.
She checked in on everyone, but mostly stepped back and spent her time alone, walking paths she had tread thousands of times before with Slate by her side.
