Biography
Dax is the only pup that survived from the Alpha pair's litters. He takes after his father in personality: aggressive, dominant and with a rebelious streak. Many times he has defied his father which resulted in many scars and bruises. Because of his demanding attitude he is not popular with the pack. His relationship with other pack mates is strained at best. He is tolerated only because of his status as the Alpha's pup. His father often sent him to train with the scouts, hunters and herbalist hoping to tame his wild nature. Dax only resented his father more because of this. The final strike was when he learned he probably won't be the next Alpha. Instead his father favoured a hunter - Geralt for this important role. Dax was hearbroken and vowed when he grew up to challenge and kill Geralt. For now the troublesome adolescent trains as his father told him, but does so with disgust. One day his time would come.
In one last attempt to teach his wayward son a lesson he sent him to the Purgatorium to face his fears. Dax refused at first. He despised his father all the more of it. He wanted to toss him to that monster he kept at Purgatorium. Lanius then went to extreme measures - he got the scouts and some of the hunters to escort Dax to the Purgatorium and cut of any escape attempts. Dax had no choice.
He was brought to the Puragatorium and left there. It was a desolate and creepy place - the trees here were long dead and there was barely any vegatation. The young wolf shuddered as a cold breeze licked at his fur. It wasn't just the cold he felt. He felt the supernatural cruel gaze of the creature watching his every move. A few minutes passed and nothing happened. In a typical arrogance of a youth Dax huffed and barked out loud "Well? Where are you, creature? Come here and face me. You can kill me, but know this - you will always be the pet demon of my father, ready to serve him and kill for him."
A monstrous growl sounded from somewhere behind him. Dax shivered, cold gripping fear taking over his body. He turned around and there it was. The burning wolf skeleton was staring right at him. It stepped closer leaving a trail of burnt ground behind it. Dax gulped, but stood still in his pretended bravery. "Your words do not insult me. I'm here to serve justice, not your father. Your father might have me tethered here, but I do not kill upon his command," the creature spoke. Suddenly the flames went out and flesh grew upon the bones, the process finishing within second. Before him stood a red, black and white wolf with deep purple eyes. "You may go. You've not sinned, have not harmed," Ghost Rider said and walked off.
Dax stared at the rethreating form with wonder. All this time he thought the Ghost Rider was a mindless monster that killed everything in its way. He shook his head. Maybe now he will prove to his father he is worthy.
Lanius was shocked that the Ghost Rider did not punish his son. The old Alpha came to realization that he was entirely wrong about his son. It was he who turned him that way. The same day he called his son.
"I'm sorry, my son. I did not give you a chance and even though you were a brat I shouldn't have isolated you like I did. Please forgive me," Lanius rarely expressed emotions and almost never apologiesed so it was a shock to Dax. Dax wanted to sneer, rage out, shout, but when he looked at his father he stoped. Lanius was nearly 7 years old, his strength long gone. Dax felt a pang of pity, but he could not forgive him, not after he sent him to his presumed death. "It will be a pleasure to kill you, but unfortunately you present no challenge. You will die with no pups to carry your legacy as I no longer want to be your son. One day you will pay for your sins and your beloved pet demon won't be able to save you - in fact he will be the one to deliver your PUNISHMENT. You disgust me," the young male spat and promptly left. Lanius cried for the first time in his life that day.
