Sand-Heart was dragged around the Trade Center for a time. She was too sour to swiftly sell. She convinced Felicity to stay. She was one of several new wolves to see the collective split. Prior to the divide, Sand-Heart spent her days guarding pups and having short trips to the desert, without much explanation.

While she convinced Felicity she would be an asset, she did not prove herself to be one until the divide. Then, she stepped up as pack healer. Sand-Heart was no hunter: fast, strong, and wise. An odd combination only because wisdom was her outstanding trait. It worked for being the pack healer, as sometimes a healer needs to be quick and/or able to wrench things back into place.

Sand-Heart's bedside manner could be improved, but she was capable enough, considering there were few other options. Not once did she divulge why she was so keen to stay among the collective. Felicity did not mind so long as Sand-Heart did not be a "lay about" wolf.

For a time, Sand-Heart helped the other grouchy, standoffish members hunt, not that they were successful. It may have had something to do with not being where her team needed her to be, but Sand-Heart was unconcerned. This did not help her gain any friends. The group, comprised mostly of Arazi and Bold Junior, more or less begged Felicity to get Sand-Heart back into the Healer role.

Her response was to shrug and dutifully return to the position as winter neared. Sand-Heart had no trouble recalling how to mix cures and aid sufferers, which is more than one can say about her teamwork effort.
