~*~
Her first memory, perhaps, was her grandmother's teeth on her bloody scruff as she was dragged from the fires.
Wolves had done this. It would not be the first nor last they slaughtered, with elemental approval by their side.
Clear was contacted when her daughter and her ahoaniu were killed. She rescued Midday herself without troubling her kin group.
The arrival of yet another ragged pup on their borders once again stirred the resident childless couple of the pack into action; yet Clear's Midday was not the simple blessing she seemed. In fact; her first blemish was stirring up a fight between her mothers who oft butted heads. Once her skilled herbalist mother had nursed her back to life with herbal cure, cuddlings, and plenty of nourishment; the debate of a name for the young pup had come into the couple's midst by Clear. Her dagari mother was infavor of Midday; biased in favor for the singular Adder naming system; as well as for her child's namesake. While she might have assimilated to the likes of shared-blood life in favor of a forgotten past, Clear was still strongly traditional to her dagari roots. Meanwhile; her grey-wolf guardian was stubborn to prevail a suffix for Midday; being her own wolf. In one debate she referred to the pup sarcastically as 'Clear's Midday,' but the title seemed to stick thereafter for most of the clan. Even Clear herself beckoned the pup by it. Clear's Midday would be the first instance in clan history that mothers would refer to young they had bonded to them; adopted; as so.

The flame colored feme spent her youth stirring up trouble alongsides the other pups. In the large litters of new wolves that year, she found herself among friends, often competiting over and beating the Snap trio in skill. She was quick to build herself up as a forceful power; and when the time came for her wending trial, she passed without question alongsides Settling Thunder into the higher ranks. Her revere grew in the clan, who respected her sharp tongue and unusual skill whilst usually keeping their distance the way Midday liked.
Except so it seemed, for Sun Canary.
The sunset colored brother seemed to have more of an infatuation with her then the others, even as pups. It was never anything more then overtly friendly, yet Midday always took to notice the way his attention always followed her.
She never considered falling for the poetic type, though then again she never considered falling at all.
As her third wending came forth, she joined up with a senior hunting team and assumed that would mean the end of it. Yet Sun Canary's senerades followed her into the higher woods, always a comfort after long days of toil. She grew to like them, and as his stories found entrance in her heart: him as well.
They were bonded properly before the Frostbite, when Falla was born. Midday sees time as slow, the freckles on his muzzle and soft black eyes that had sight only for her.
Her reminiscence on this time is often spent of regret of everything lost. As though the years of that one finally began to pass her by without notice, leaving her in winter.
He starved, when Falla was nursing, to keep Midday's strength up for herself and his then son. His morsels went to her alone. The deprivement led to pneumonia he succumbed to.
Midday was driven off with grief. The death of her mothers and clanmates struck a toll.
Sun Canary wouldnt leave. He never did.
If she ignored it, it would go away.
She was told later he begged with gentle breaths to see her face before being stolen by the darkness.
