Hardborne Determination
Grit is apart of a small troupe of single males who decided to rest at - and not leave - Dawnrise.
Slate can't help but notice the similarities between himself and Grit and as a result judges Grit's actions very critically. Although Grit tends to try to ignore this, Slate is stubborn in-return and ignores the criticisms levied against him.
Slate just feels that for a wolf that "looks like him", Grit is a little too friendly. Slate rationalizes that wolves that "look hard" should "be hard".
Cloud disagrees and protects Grit like he does his other packmates from his Hunting team. Although Grit doesn't take old wolf Slate's words too much to heart most of the time, the thoughts do sometimes invade unsuccessful hunts.
